The Director General, Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), Engr. Obinna Odum, while on an official visit to Umunneochi Local Government Area, reiterated Governor Otti’s interest in increasing government presence in Umunneochi.
Odum, who began the inspection visit at the local government headquarters, also addressed workers of the town planning authority, urging them to rise to the demands of the "new Abia." In his remarks, he emphasized that the administration of Dr. Alex Otti is keenly focused on inclusive growth and sustainable development across all localities in the state.
The delegation paid a visit to the palace of His Royal Highness Eze C.A.I. Ejim (Kparo I), the paramount ruler of Umukparo Ancient Kingdom, Mbala in Umunneochi. The visit provided a platform to enlighten the community about GODA’s presence and its long-term development plans.
While speaking, HRH Ejim lauded Dr. Alex Otti’s administration for initiating transformative steps towards infrastructural development and town planning. “We are witnessing the dawn of a new era in Abia State. The traditional rulers’ welfare is not left out. Dr. Otti has shown tremendous commitment to our cause. You can count on our unreserved support for these initiatives,” the monarch said.
The Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Hon. Sunday Afuruike, acknowledged the importance of proper town planning for the growth of Umunneochi, sharing insights into his vision for the area’s future. In a show of solidarity, he pledged unwavering support for GODA’s initiatives, affirming the local government’s readiness to collaborate in achieving the state’s development goals.
Odum and his team visited quarry sites in Lokpanta, where the Director General engaged the leadership of the quarry workers. The discussions centered on harnessing the area’s rich natural resources and developing the host community through a self-help approach, augmented by partnerships with the government.
The head of operations at the site, Mr. Nenye Osuora, welcomed the government’s interest in integrating the quarry’s activities into the broader development framework of Abia State. “We are fully committed to complying with all government directives,” Mr. Osuora assured.
GODA’s visit to Umunneochi is part of DR. Alex Otti’s determination to create a prosperous and well-planned Abia North through community engagement, resource optimization, and collaborative town planning!
