Agriculture, Tourism, And Government Partnerships: A Panacea For Asaga's Development

Published on December 27, 2024

The Director General of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA) and founder of the Obicare Charity Foundation, Engr. Obinna Odum, has emphasized agriculture, tourism, and government partnerships as key drivers for sustainable development in Asaga.

He made this assertion during a lecture at the Annual Asaga Development Conference, held at the Asaga Civic Center yesterday. In his address, titled “Unlocking Asaga’s potential: approach to development through funding, empowerment, and partnerships”, Engr. Odum shed light on the untapped potential within Asaga, urging the community to leverage its natural and human resources to foster growth and prosperity.

Engr. Odum identified several tourist sites in and around Asaga that, if properly harnessed, could transform the community into a tourism hub. Emphasizing the cultural heritage and natural landscapes, he urged stakeholders to invest in the development and promotion of these sites.

“By developing our tourist centers and making them attractive to visitors, we create avenues for job creation, revenue generation, and global recognition for Asaga," he stated.

Speaking further, Odum also stressed the importance of revitalizing the agricultural sector, which has historically been a cornerstone of Asaga's economy. He called for innovative farming techniques, improved access to modern tools, and better market linkages to boost agricultural productivity.

In conclusion, he highlighted the advantages of partnerships with the government for infrastructural development, urging community leaders to collaborate with local and state governments to address infrastructural deficits in Asaga.

The Annual Asaga Development Conference brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders to deliberate on actionable strategies for progress.
